Darren is an experienced guide, fully insured, trained in outdoor first aid and all activities within the remit of his Mountain Leader qualification.
Darren takes great pleasure in sharing his knowledge of the landscape, geology, flora & fauna; and loves exploring the hills and mountains to find new experiences to share with others, to enable them to realise the benefits of the great outdoors and the effect it can have on your wellbeing and mental health.
Darren will take time to chat with you to discover your aims for your walk and learn about your knowledge and ability. You may wish to walk with an experienced guide to give you the confidence to take on the adventure, or you need to improve your map reading skills, whatever the outcome you want to achieve Darren will be there to support you and give you the peace of mind that your trip is exactly what you want it to be.
If your group requires more than one Mountain Leader we can invite other ML’s to join us depending on the number in your group or the type of activity you have planned.
We are extremely popular for those who like to trail ride the green lanes. Many TRF groups stay with us due to our ideal location and the services we provide. We can put you in contact with excellent well established local businesses who can guide you over the remote and unspoiled hills and valleys with a variety of surfaces and features. Our guides can offer bike hire, but you will need a motorcycle licence as they ride on roads during the experience. We provide a fully catered weekend, Arriving Friday for your evening meal, leaving after your ride on Sunday showered and changed ready for your journey home.

The premier flyfishing water in Wales, is run by the local Club Llanidloes and District AA. They have 30 plus 4hp petrol motor boats for hire or you can fish from the bank. They offer 3 day packages, competitions, and guided days are available on request.
If you like to walk then we are certainly the place for you. You can walk in the local area of the forest by using the forest roads enjoying the spectacular views and the amazing trees that grow in the area, not to mention the different fungi you will find. We are perfectly placed to drive to the Hafren Forest car park, where there are a number of walks to take part in.
Celebrate Welsh cultural and natural history along the 135 miles Glyndwr's Way. We are in the ideal location to stop overnight between Llanidloes and Machynlleth. We are situated at Dolydd as you leave the forest and cross the bridge over the Afon Llwyd.
Mountain Biking
There are a number of areas to discover and enjoy, Machynlleth, Corris, Coed y Brenin and Nant yr Arian. There is also a number of local trails which can be accessed from our doorstep in the Hafren Forest.
Mountain and Gravel Biking has become extremely popular in the area and we are ideally placed to visit the dedicated mountain bike trail centre at Coed Y Brenin & Dyfi Park.
Challenging Rides in Wales - Sustrans 8, Lon Las Cymru & Trans Cambrian. If you fancy giving these rides a bash then we are on route and offer, good food, comfy beds and hot showers, and a safe place to store your bike.
